Specific topics include lactic acid bacteria in fermented foods in Southeast Asia, culture collection networks in Asia, high actinomycete diversity in the topical rainforests of Singapore, and engineering biphenyl dioxygenases to acquire wide degradation capabilities of polychlorinated biphenyls and aromatic hydrocarbons.
