Book Synopsis Aquatic Fungi in an Alpine Stream of South-eastern Australia by : Stephanie Gillin Anne Suter
Book excerpt: Aquatic hyphomycetes are dominant decomposers of leaf litter in freshwater streams, contributing significantly to the carbon cycle and in-stream food webs. The presence and activity of aquatic hyphomycetes in Australian streams is not well documented, with no known studies on their contribution to decomposition in alpine headwater streams. This study investigated the fungal community residing in Whiterock Creek, an alpine stream of south-eastern Australia.
