Book excerpt: After leaving Warm Springs, Georgia, Cat Callahan and his human companion, Dax, have moved on to Alabama where Dax takes temporary work at New Hope Ranch. And Campbell himself seems to be hiding secrets, as well. Callahan, the big gray cat, is on the case once again, tracking the clues to figure out the truth behind all the human secrets and treachery.
