Connemara After the Famine

Called by Scott this inhabited desolation, his journal provides a first-hand account, with line drawings, by Scott, of the survivors of the famine in this area, of the thieving beggars and squalid hostelries, rent-evading tenants, and the works of the 'Papistry.'
