Book excerpt: The goal of apprenticeship training is to develop a competent journeyman through a combination of on the job and technical training. This document provides an overview of apprenticeship programs in Alberta, with emphasis on the motorcycle mechanic program and courses. As a graduate, the certified journeyman will be able to: repair and maintain motorcycles and ATVs which are powered with internal combustion engines; comprehend work orders, technical bulletins and estimates, and related the information to the job at hand; interpret warranty policy in terms of service reports, component failures, and analysis records; when their Journeyman Certificate has been earned, the motorcycle mechanic may opt to specialize in the repairing, rebuilding and servicing of one or more of the many assemblies of the modern motorcycle; have executive and supervisory opportunities in the motorcycle industry; be able to familiarize themselves with the work experience of closely allied equipment: e.g., snowmobiles, outdoor power equipment; and perform assigned tasks in accordance with industry standards.--Document.
