Book excerpt: Charlotte Engemann was born on the 13th of June, 2037, 16 years before the outbreak of the Weeping. Her diary was found on the 19th of October, 2113, on an abandoned farm near Winterkasten, a small town in Hesse, Germany. Researchers have restored and translated the worn paper to the best of their abilities, providing a small glimpse of life before and during the Weeping.
