Book Synopsis The Impact of Video Analysis on Novice Teachers' Self-reflection and Student Achievement by : Caitlin Elizabeth Bullard

Book excerpt: Novice teachers have historically faced many challenges in terms of improving their self-reflection, which is closely linked to teacher attrition and teacher quality. The purpose of this mixed-methods study was to examine the differences in the development of novice teachers’ self-reflection, self-efficacy, and classroom management, as well as their students’ math and reading scores, after teachers participated in multiple reflective video analysis cycles. Surveys, participant journals, and interviews were analyzed to compare the changes over time between experimental and comparison groups. A series of mixed-model ANOVAs was run, and qualitative data was coded and analyzed to determine the impact of video analysis.
