Book Synopsis The Court of Appeals of Maryland by : Carroll T. Bond

Book excerpt: With its origins in the seventeenth century, the Maryland Court of Appeals is one of the oldest in the United States. Located in the middle of the east coast, it was confronted with most of the key legal issues that affected the colonies and early United States. Bond's was the first history of the court from its origins around 1649 to the adoption of the state's current constitution in 1867. A valuable study, it is based almost entirely on primary sources. Bond [1873-1943] was the Chief Justice of the Court from 1924 to the end of his life.
