Travel Writing and Atrocities

As Burroughs articulates, as well as bringing home to readers ongoing brutalities, eyewitness narratives importantly contributed to debates on humanitarianism, trade, colonialism, and race and racial prejudice in late Victorian and Edwardian Britain.
