Agpeya

Book excerpt: Prayer is one of the important practices in the Christian faith, by which we inform God our faith, our thanksgiving, and our requests. Our Lord Jesus Christ prayed and has giving us the greatest prayer, "Our Father." In our Coptic Orthodox Church, the Agpeya is the prayer book of the hours in which the Church had set prayers for individuals, families, and congregants to be prayed at specific times of the day. The book includes all canonical hours' prayers including the Veil, as well as the Absolution of the Priests, and some personal prayers. Coptic text for some selected prayers and some of the hours' litanies has also been included. All Scripture readings are according to the NKJV while all other texts are what has been used in St. Mark's, Jersey City for many years.
